It is WORTH IT.<br>Wata is a friendly, calm soul who casually takes you to all of the best spots on the island. You beat the crowds, save time AND save money. The tours offered to us from American companies and cruise ships were 4x the cost with less to see.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to Kabira Bay, took a glass-bottom boat tour, saw the gorgeous cape of Oganzaki, headed to the Yaeyama Village for an ancient\/local tour, pet some squirrel monkeys, visited the mangrove park, and ended the tour at a local (unknown to tourists) soba shop. During the entire trip, he snapped photos of us which he sends after the tour as keepsakes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>My suggestions for when (not if) you book with Wata:<br>-Have cash. Some places are cash only and you\u2019ll want to experience everything. 6000\u00a5 got me through the day just fine.<br>-Wear something nice (for photos) but nothing too warm.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We paid for Wata to come with us everywhere. He will politely help you get your tickets so if you just want to go by yourselves on the boat or in the Yaeyama Park, you can do that and he will just wait for you outside. But\u2026 that\u2019s dumb. Definitely pay for him to come with you as a guide, translator, and friend. Nothing is expensive so it\u2019s not hard to just make sure he comes along for the ride.<br>We also paid for his meal at the end of the day. He was awesome. We felt a genuine connection with him and we know he\u2019ll offer the same genuine treatment to everyone he meets.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div>\n\n\n\n<div class=\"swell-block-capbox cap_box\"><div class=\"cap_box_ttl\"><span>Highly recommended &#8211; Family from China<\/span><\/div><div class=\"cap_box_content\">\n<p>\u2605\u2605\u2605\u2605\u2605 5.0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We stayed at Ishigaki for three days and booked the sightseeing private tour with Viator. Most locals including ANA intercontinental staffs speak little English, but our guide, Saito, communicates very well in English. He was very friendly and couteous to accommodate our time and our particular interest.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The weather was beautiful and we visited the famous Kabira Bay, spend about half an hour on a glassboat. The scenery was spectacular. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We then visited a public beach called Yonehara which is quite closely. It was one of the best snorkeling experience I had if not the best. The water visibility was superb and you could simple walk from the beach to the underwater wonderland, where you can spot corals, beautiful fishes. It was quite exilerating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> Later Saito took us to the culture village where squirrel monkeys was the highlight.
