Personalized tour was fabulous, 4 sites in 3.5 hours including glass-bottom boat tour of Kabari Bay, light house, another beach, and shisa garden.
Stops for snacks and juice along the way. Guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and spoke fluent English. Pickup and dropoff at ferry terminal. Great introduction to Ishigaki Island.

If you’re wondering if to book this cruise for your day in Ishigaki, stop wondering. It is WORTH IT.
Wata is a friendly, calm soul who casually takes you to all of the best spots on the island. You beat the crowds, save time AND save money. The tours offered to us from American companies and cruise ships were 4x the cost with less to see.
We went to Kabira Bay, took a glass-bottom boat tour, saw the gorgeous cape of Oganzaki, headed to the Yaeyama Village for an ancient/local tour, pet some squirrel monkeys, visited the mangrove park, and ended the tour at a local (unknown to tourists) soba shop. During the entire trip, he snapped photos of us which he sends after the tour as keepsakes.
My suggestions for when (not if) you book with Wata:
-Have cash. Some places are cash only and you’ll want to experience everything. 6000¥ got me through the day just fine.
-Wear something nice (for photos) but nothing too warm.
We paid for Wata to come with us everywhere. He will politely help you get your tickets so if you just want to go by yourselves on the boat or in the Yaeyama Park, you can do that and he will just wait for you outside. But… that’s dumb. Definitely pay for him to come with you as a guide, translator, and friend. Nothing is expensive so it’s not hard to just make sure he comes along for the ride.
We also paid for his meal at the end of the day. He was awesome. We felt a genuine connection with him and we know he’ll offer the same genuine treatment to everyone he meets.

We stayed at Ishigaki for three days and booked the sightseeing private tour with Viator. Most locals including ANA intercontinental staffs speak little English, but our guide, Saito, communicates very well in English. He was very friendly and couteous to accommodate our time and our particular interest.
The weather was beautiful and we visited the famous Kabira Bay, spend about half an hour on a glassboat. The scenery was spectacular.
We then visited a public beach called Yonehara which is quite closely. It was one of the best snorkeling experience I had if not the best. The water visibility was superb and you could simple walk from the beach to the underwater wonderland, where you can spot corals, beautiful fishes. It was quite exilerating.
Later Saito took us to the culture village where squirrel monkeys was the highlight. We all like the tour very much, thanks to Saito’s drive, guide, and explanation along the way.
